RAF Hurricane in flight
A portrait of Hawker Hurricane Mk I, P2751 JX-L of No 1 Squadron, as flown by Sqn Ldr David Alwyne Pemberton in August 1940. It was one of the two oldest Hurricanes on the squadron, having been in action during the Battle of France in May. It retained a distinctive yellow band on the propeller spinner.
