Fat Betty Cross
A boundary marker and waypoint on Danby Moor at the head of Rosedale in the North Yorks Moors national park, at the location of three parish boundaries. Fat Betty was originally a medieval cross, the upright stone long since lost, the cross part being carved on a circular head stone looking somewhat like a face. The origin of its popular name is not certain. People leave little offerings on it, typically sweets.
