Galaxy NGC 2403
It's fun to wander about in the planetarium software connected to my telescope and take a closer look at some of the smaller objects there. This, known simply by the catalogue number NGC 2403, is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Camelopardis. Cute. Of course we have no idea what it looks like now because the light from it has taken about 8 million years to get here.
Imaged from my back garden in Colchester with a 69% Moon shining brightly overhead. This comprises 463 x 30" exposures on the modified Nikon D750 at ISO 1600, stacked with calibration frames in Astro Pixel Processor, then tidied up in Photoshop and Lightroom.
