Dambusters practising low level flying
Wing Commander Guy Gibson leads a flight of three specially modified Avro Lancaster bombers low over the fens near the 617 Squadron base in Lincolnshire in 1943. Their attack on German dams on 16/17 May had to be carried out at extremely low level.
