A 5:1 panoramic view of the lake above the Mohne Dam (Mohnetalsperre) in Germany. Now a popular tourist attraction, on the night of 16/17 May 1943 it was the scene of an attack by Lancasters of the RAF's 617 Squadron, who successfully breached the centre section of the dam using a secret "bouncing bomb" designed by Barnes Wallis. This picture was taken on a May afternoon 70 years later, when the water was at a similar high level to when the attack took place.
