Black Buck One attack run black and white
On 1 May 1982, RAF Avro Vulcan XM607 completed an astonishing flight to the Argentine-occupied Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic to bomb the runway at Port Stanley. XM607 made its attack run at 250ft before climbing to bombing height and releasing its weapons. The mission, which took the enemy forces completely by surprise, involved a mammoth aerial refuelling effort involving 11 Victor tanker aircraft.
