Petwood Hotel
Wealthy heiress Baroness Grace van Eckhardstein had a grand house built under the guidance of architect Frank Peck as a country retreat in her "pet wood" at Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire in the early years of the 20th Century. During WW2 it became the officers' mess for, first, 97 and 619 Squadrons but then, most famously, 617 Squadron – the Dambusters. Now a hotel, it still has a Squadron Bar full of pictures and memorabilia.
