Spitfire victory
RAF pilot Henry 'Pat' Lardner-Burke in his Spitfire Mk IX, MH434, downing a Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Fw 190 while on a "Ramrod" bomber escort over northern France in August 1943.
Flying ZD-B as Red 3 in No. 222 Squadron Lardner-Burke closed to within 300 yards and opened fire from dead astern. The Fw 190 dived and he followed it, a second burst sending it vertically downwards and into the ground near Audruicq.
