A Type 464 (Provisioning) Lancaster bomber of 617 Squadron, ED906/G AJ-J for Johnny, whose Barnes Wallis-designed Upkeep 'bouncing bomb' finally smashed the Mohne Dam on 17 May 1943. Release parameters: 232mph at 60ft as gauged by the offset spotlights, 450 yards from target. Codename for weapon released was "Goner".
Pilot David Maltby, Flight engineer William Hatton, Navigator Vivian Nicholson, Wireless operator Antony Stone, Bomb aimer John Fort, Front gunner Victor Hill, Rear gunner Harold Simmonds. The crew returned from this operation but were lost that summer.
