Polphail cattle grid
The entrance to Polphail, at Portavadie in Argyll and Bute. The village was built in the 1970s to house thousands of workers during the UK oil boom but abandoned without ever being occupied. Nearby is a brand new marina. The signs on the fence warn that "the derelict buildings on this site are home to bats" which must not be disturbed.
